In photography it matters what you frame, … how you frame it… and why.

Photography is not supposed to be a simple arbitrary act. It is meant to have purpose. At the very least, a photograph should have some reason for existing.

That reason and that purpose needs to be an elevated activity. It requires rational thought and calculated vision.

A photograph is a special kind of language, which is supposed to help us see the world.

The act of photography should be used to add to what we know. It is a tool for exploration, discovery, perception and hopefully some kind of elevated communication. It is meant to instill knowledge and communicate insight. It needs to be raised to a new level, which we call a heightened reality.

A photograph is an instrument for the realization of life and all that it entails.

Part of the “vision” of any artist is the unique ability to see what others do not.

The idea of a frame goes far beyond the edges of what is shown. Framing in photography is an act of formulating an idea. It is the act of visualizing thought and expressing a viewpoint. Framing is a way to pose a question and a way to seek the answers. A frame acts as a kind of thought bubble that declares your point of view. A frame contains what you believe is worth consideration.

In photography, framing is everything!
