Floating Man may be my best image ever.

Floating Man may be my best image ever.
I shot this when I was on vacation in Florida in the 1980s. The man was floating motionless in the water. I saw a dramatic opportunity with the shadow and took the shot. I had just purchased an old Nikonos, and this was one of my first shots with that camera. Though the Nikonos is an underwater film camera, I often used it to shoot in conditions such as rain or snow, Here, I was simply shooting near a pool. As for the image, I like the shape created by his arms. It forms what looks like a giant eye. I like the other things that seem magical, like the aura that seems to be created by the ripples. There is also a sense of light that seems surreal. The man appears to be lying beside himself. I like that he seems to be levitating, which is very Zen-like. The timing was perfect. Something I always try to capture if I can. Serendipity is one of the reasons I am a photographer.
