One of my favorite things to do with a pinhole photograph is to finish the image in a digital paint application. Because of their lack of hard details, pinhole produced imagery seems to lend itself very well to digital painting.
I’ve always had a respect for straight photography. However I also love to play with the possibilities available through the computer. Even before the computer, I was marking on images with real marking implements such as pens, pencils, color markers, and scratching devices. The computer can do all of that and more.
The images shown here were taken with a pinhole mounted to a micro 43rds digital camera and digitally painted using Studio Artist. These examples were prepared in Photoshop before painting. I’ll discuss this as a process soon with another post.
Pinhole images can be manipulated in endless ways using an assortment of software.
