Over the past fourteen years, I have looked forward to the last Sunday in April. Each year, WPPD – Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day as it is known, allows thousands of pinholers to shoot a pinhole image and submit one image to their on-line pinhole gallery.

It is one of the things that gets many of us through the winter as we plan for what we might create.

April is not always a predictable month in many parts of the world. Most places it seems, have not quit warmed up to springtime. Yet, each year, the event attracts those image-makers, both amateur and professional to face the elements on what ever comes their way on that particular day. Every image shot for the event must have been shot that day.

My first WPPD image was what I believe to be the very first digital pinhole ever produced. I used a Kodak digital camera with a very tiny sensor, with which, I removed the lens and replaced it with a very tiny pinhole.

The work below, was done using many different pinhole cameras, including digital, polaroid film, Skink Pinhole Pancake mounts, and self modified film cameras. My goal was to produce images that went beyond the typical b/w renditions that are submitted. I wanted to inspire the more creative aspects of using the pinhole as an expressive tool.

Here is the work I produced for at most of the history of the event. Except for the first and last images, they are not sequenced by year.
