The art of seeing allows us to find something in any environment. The right place can be anywhere. However, the timing and framing of what you experience is critical. The mind needs to be in the right state, without preconceived notions. To me, photography is the discovery of something new. It is about connecting with the place you are at any moment.
When you are bored, you are not seeing.
It has very little to do with the thing photographed. Rather, it has everything to do with its essence, its otherness, and its implied reality.

Great post John. Everything is amazing – it all has its moment. I think of the photography state of mind as being in three places – the first place is seeing the obvious beauty that can be seen by everyone – and photographed by anyone with technical ability. The second place is a state of mind where somehow new possibilities appear and become obvious – this happens only after a long period of studying.
The third place, well, that is a place to reach and discover in the future.
