Seeing the World as Sacred – As Miracle

For many including myself, the world, in fact the entire universe, is a miracle. Chance or not, it is an amazing mystery. Or so it should be seen that way.

One of the things that photography does is celebrate life. Life is the primary reason for the arts and it is what you see and experience when you look at artistic works. Basically, art is a mirror of who we are and what we do as inhabitants on this planet.

I believe that life is not something we should take lightly. It isn’t something to take for granted. No matter what you might think about your own existence, life is an amazing thing to have happened. Not just the fact that we have a life, but that everything on this planet supports our ability to live it.

Once you begin to realize the miracle we are in, you might agree that everything is sacred.

Everything is connected to everything else. The miracles are everywhere you look. They are in fact the same miracle.

Life is a miracle. It is an amazing miracle.

“To me every hour of the light and dark is a miracle. Every cubic inch of space is a miracle.” – Walt Whitman

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” – Albert Einstein

“We must not allow the clock and the calendar to blind us to the fact that each moment of life is a miracle and mystery.” – H. G. Wells

“Many people are alive but don’t touch the miracle of being alive.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

“Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other’s eyes for an instant?” – Henry David Thoreau

“Miracles, in the sense of phenomena we cannot explain, surround us on every hand: life itself is the miracle of miracles. “- George Bernard Shaw

“Everything is a miracle. It is a miracle that one does not dissolve in one’s bath like a lump of sugar.” – Pablo Picasso

Take nothing for granted. You are a part of it all.
