In the new world of camera and phone apps much of what some people think is creative happens because of software engineers who appropriated those looks from the real creative artists who originated them. Not that anyone seems to care.

For the most part, the images people made were kept in albums and shoeboxes. The images were private, shown at family gatherings and sometimes shared with very close friends.

The digital effect is meant to give an old school look to a digital image. What some may not realize is that unlike the digital version, there was good reason back then for the borders to exist.
