As an art form, the photographic image is meant to make us think.

Life has changed photography and art. It always has. Art is all about our lives and our existence. It is a look at where we are as humans in any period of time we are in.

Art is our mirror. It is a picture of who we are. Art is a road-map that we can use to see our progress as human beings.

I used to like the old world of pastoral views, of waterfalls, forests and beauty. But that world is gone. It really doesn’t exist. We “screwed the pooch” as they say here in the real world.

In the area of photography, it is a term used to describe the viewer’s preferences and perhaps the maker’s ego. I find it is often used to describe a camera image that someone seems to simply like. There is a huge difference between…and åwesome.

When I was learning how to take pictures, I used one of these to get me out of the car when driving around looking for something to photograph.

Seems to me that Walker Evans was saying that there are other………………the chances are you will never rise above the average photo-buff.

Abstraction is meant to provoke the viewer. It is meant to spark the imagination, it begs for an answer, it compels contemplation.
