Carole’s beautiful black and white photographs taken of the victims and families who were affected by radioactive contamination are a dramatic account of their involuntary participation in the atomic age.

120 Matchbox Pinhole Project – Part 1

The only thing I knew at that point was that that a large size matchbox has the same height dimension as a roll of 120 film. I also realized that 120 film which does not have a cassette, would require a much more robust system to make it function in this setup.

Most of these cameras were made from wood and covered with a pebbled grain cloth or paper. There were some that were made from paperboard and used a pinhole rather than a lens. More expensive versions were made from stamped metal and covered in leather. They had simple shutters and apertures.
